Final Stretch
For this last week we had to finish the game level, add all necessary mechanics, and test to make sure everything worked. I also needed to make some final touches to the GDD to make it look more appealing. While a lot of the initial ground work was done, we still needed to polish things and make some last minute additions.
Polishing the Level
The programmers went in with my layout and made all the walls level. They also added in a toon shader which made the game look much more polished.

From there I added decor outside so that when the players look out the windows they can see a scene. I just made a few houses out of the prop materials and placed them all around. I also placed trees everywhere and I made a wall texture to look like greenery to put around the perimeter. I added more decor, including shelves and a cage asset I made.
Creating Breakables
I used the cell fracture plugin in Blender to make more broken meshes to use in our game. Up until this point, only the lamps had the ability to break. I made broken meshes for the cups, pictures, plates, and camera. I gave these assets to the programmers so that they could make more breakable objects and populate the level with them.
Creating Additional Assets
We still needed a few more things to decorate the level in my opinion, so I made a few more assets. I made an array of items including cat toys, cups, documents, and picture frames.

These items in the scene really made things look more put together and with the picture frames especially help with the humor of the game.
Finishing the GDD
The first thing I did was use the table of contents feature on Google Docs rather than doing that manually like I was doing before and it resulted in a much cleaner look. From there, I went through and edited the language to make everything more technical. I then added in artwork to make the document nicer to look at, and I went into the page set up and changed the color of the paper itself so that everything matched. I also illustrated a border design I added by exporting the document as a pdf and using Adobe Acrobat to add it on.
Next Steps
The final steps of this process is being available to the programmers to assit with any testing they need done or if they need any other last minute art artifacts from me. I'll also be setting up the submission for the design portion of the project, so I'll be working on that as well.
