Final Walk Cycle Work in Progress
One of the final deliverables for this course is a walk cycle. I have created a good cycle already, one where the character is meant to be walking briskly as if they are being chased. One thing I want to add via animation cycle is the head looking forward and looking back at a different rate than the rest of the body walking. Once I add that, I'll be able to get into the graph editor and refine this animation. After that it should be ready to turn in.
Lip Syncing
This workshop I had a ton of fun with. I think I wanna try doing more lip syncing in the future because this was a part of animation that made a lot of sense to me, like walk cycles.
I really liked how this turned out and I think at some point I wanna revisit the recontextualized audio exercise I did a few weeks ago and animation the mouths synced to the audio. It'll be a little more challenging than this exercise because they have faces that would need to be animated along with the mouth while this robot only needed the mouth to be flapping open and shut.
Animation Jam
For our last class meeting, we did an animation jam. We had to gather models, audio, video reference, and create an animation within one class period. I did struggle a little bit with this one, but I did my best to make it work. I think the result is a decent blockout, but it is something I might want to revisit.
It was a good opportunity to practice a lot of what we've been learning when it comes to posing, using temp controllers, and analyzing reference.
Next Steps
We have the next month to create our finalized animations with everything we've learned. I've already made significant progress on the final walk cycle, but I'll have to create several animation cycles for a game. These will have be something like an idle, walk, run, jump cycles. I'd also want them to have character to them.
