Finishing the Sculpt
This week was one that has been in the making for a year and a half, I finally finished the sculpt! I'll be able to move on with this project and that makes me more happy than words can say. I started this week changing the clasp on the necklace that was around the tail to a toggle clasp because that looked more correct to me. I also think it added more visual interest.

That was the only major change I made. From there I kept bringing each piece of the sculpt to a higher subdivision level and refining from there. I worked on the hair, horns, and most prominently the dress as I felt the ruffles needs more work to look believable. I started at the top of a bodice and added an elastic to the seam (whether or not elastic would exist in her world doesn't matter to me because I think it made it look way more interesting).

I had left a lot of the clothing relatively low poly so I was just going through and bumping up the detail. The ruffles proved to be frustrating to work with because sometimes when moving them around the edge of the sculpt wouldn't behave the way I'd want it to. There were some points where I had to just let the sculpt lay where it wanted to and work around it.

From there I jumped around to the different aspects of the sculpt, bringing them to higher detail.

Next Steps
Next is the tedious part, topology. Thankfully I've been working on a female base mesh in blender so I know how to topologize and cut UVs there. I won't be able to use a preexisting topology on this sculpt though because of her legs, but fingers crossed that I can do the topology at least a little bit quicker. I'm still riding the high that I finally got this sculpt done. It's been long on and off periods of working on it and now that it's time to move to the next step I feel invigorated to really go all the way and see it through to the end. Getting to this point I think I'm going to learn how to rig in blender so I can rig and pose this model. I'm probably going to have to learn how to do 3D animation for another project I'm working on, so hopefully those skills can be used to better pose her.
